Blackout poetry is when you take a written piece of text from a book, newspaper, or magazine and redact words, in order to come up with your very own poetry! The way you redact can be creative too.

ARTISTIC COMPETITION:
Prep: Colouring competition (picture supplied)
Yr 1-2: READ - Drawing competition. Tell us of your favourite book to read or have read to you. Draw a cover for that book. (it can be the real cover or one you have designed yourself). Max size: A4 page.
Yr 3-4: GROW - Bookmark competition. Design and create an original bookmark around the theme of “GROWING a reader". (Should contain colour). Winners will be copied and shared with others in the library. Max. A5 (half A4) Note: doesn't have to be a rectangle.
Yr 5-6: INSPIRE - Collage competition. Use natural/everyday materials to create a collage that inspires. Inspire creativity. Inspire growth. Inspire positivity. Inspire change. (Max size: A4 size). Check out Jeannie Baker's books for inspiration. 😊
