Rules for play

Albany Hills State School has developed a set of guidelines for play, both in sporting activities and lunch time play.
These principles are:

1. Honesty is the best policy:

If you keep cheating, people are going to notice. Own your mistake (don’t blame anyone else) and move on with the game. 2 minutes arguing just makes people upset and means 2 minutes not playing the game.

2. Learn to take turns:

That way everyone gets a go.

3. To have a friend, be a friend:

Treat other people how you would want to be treated. Then you will have lots of people wanting to play with you.

4. Is it a catastrophe?

On a scale of 1-10, my dog dying is a 9 out of 10. Forgetting my lunch is a 3 out of 10. Someone not playing by the rules is probably a 2 out of 10. Why should I get upset about it?

5. Rules ARE cool!

Talk with everybody about what rules you will/ won’t be having in your game before you start playing. This will help make sure everyone is playing safely and having the most number of turns.

6. Be a good sport:

Learn to be a gracious winner and a gracious loser

7. Be safe!

Think about the worst injury that might happen in your game. If it involves an ambulance then don’t play it. Play games that involve everybody running in the same direction (backward and forward)

8. N.E.D:

Never give up, encourage others, do your best
