Assessment
Ongoing monitoring of student learning occurs throughout the year in the form of summative, diagnostic and formative assessment conducted by teachers. Teachers provide ongoing feedback to students to assist them to reflect on their progress.
The variety of assessment tasks that occur throughout the school year may include:
Summative Assessment such as written tests, oral or written presentations or displays, or a written task as a culmination of the unit of work. These are outlined in the
Year Level Newsletters provided to parents each term.
Diagnostic Assessment such as checklists, running records, PM Benchmarking or the Developmental Spelling Analysis.
Reporting to parents
Regular, effective communication is encouraged between caregivers and teachers.
Parent information evenings are held early in Term 1 and are a great way to find out about your child's class, their teacher, routines and expectations.
Formal reporting occurs four times each year in the form of two face-to-face meetings and two written reports, as follows:
- Parent-teacher interviews (during Term 1)
- Written school reports (end Term 2)
- Parent-teacher interviews (during Term 3)
- Written school reports (end Term 4)
Teachers are also available during term by making an appointment through the school office.
Term 1 and 3 parent-teacher interviews are able to be booked through the Parent Teacher Online site. A link is available on the school's homepage.
The table below gives information about the written report cards students receive at the end of each semester in the Prep, Year 1-2 and Year 3-6 phases of schooling.
The front page of your
child’s report will have a detailed description of what the levels of
achievement indicate. For further information please see your child’s classroom
teacher.
