Prep

Preparatory Year is available to all children of eligible age. Preparatory Year is full-time and compulsory.

Children will need to be 5 by 30 June in the year they enrol in Preparatory Year. It is anticipated that early entry to Preparatory Year will only be allowed for children on transfer across Australia and internationally who have been enrolled in a similar pre-year 1 program. To determine if your child is eligible to enrol in prep please check the Education Queensland's Prep ready reckoner.

Delayed entry to Prep is an option which may be considered in specific circumstances and where it is in a child's best educational interests.

 

Prep 2019 Enrolment Information
 
Albany Hills State School has an Enrolment Management Plan. Please read this document. 
 
In catchment and sibling enrolments  
 
If your child’s principal place of residence is within our catchment area or they are a sibling of a current student please complete the enrolment forms and submit them to the school office as soon as possible. You are welcome to collect enrolment forms from our office or download them from our website, complete them and return them to our office.  Your child's birth certificate will be required to be sighted in order to process your enrolment application. 
 

As per our School Enrolment Management Plan​, new families living within catchment need to provide current proof of residency by way of one of each of the following:

 

  • One primary source - a current rental/lease agreement or rates notice, or unconditional sale notice; and 
  • One secondary source – a utility bill (electricity, gas) showing this same address and parent’s/legal guardian’s name. 

 

​Out of catchment enrolments

If your child’s principal place of residence is NOT within our catchment area please complete enrolment forms and submit them to the school office in person after 8.00 am on 1 March 2018 to be placed on a waiting list. No out of catchment enrolments will be accepted before this time.  

You are welcome to collect enrolment forms from our office or download them from our website, complete them and return them to our office.  Your child's birth certificate will be required to be sighted in order to process your enrolment application. 

Parents will be contacted if a position becomes available.

These will be held in August/September with the Deputy Principal.

In catchment and sibling enrolments  

 

If your child’s principal place of residence is within our catchment area or they are a sibling of a current student please complete the enrolment forms and submit them to the school office on or after 1 February 2019. You are welcome to collect enrolment forms from our office or download them from our website, complete them and return them to our office.  Your child's birth certificate will be required to be sighted in order to process your enrolment application.

Parents of students with siblings at Albany Hills State School and those in catchment will be contacted around July/August 2019. This will be to make an appointment for you and your child to attend an interview with the Deputy Principal in August/September.

Parent information sessions 

 
Parent information sessions for 2020 prep parents will be held in May 2019. Tours of the school will be available.   
 
Parents are very welcome to bring children to our school for Under Eights’ Morning in 2019. Activities include music making, art activities, emergency service providers, modified sports and an obstacle course. This is a wonderful opportunity for you and your child to get to know our great school.
