Recent Sporting Success

Year 5 Soccer Team

We have had a number of sporting successes lately that we’d like to celebrate. Edward competed for Met North in the State football tournament. His team remained undefeated over the carnival and won the tournament. Rhiannon was successful in gaining a place in the Met North softball team and will travel to Rockhampton in a few weeks for the State trials. Riley was successful in making the Met North team for rugby league.

Forty eight students went away recently to represent our school at the North District athletics carnival. As usual all students were exceptionally well behaved and showed amazing sportsmanship and displayed the NED attitude. Congratulations to all 48 students on a successful meeting. 10 students were successful in making the North District team and will compete in a few weeks for a place on the Met North team. We wish them all the best.

Last Friday our year 5 boys football (soccer) team was involved in a play-off against Patrick’s road in order to progress in the South East Queensland football tournament. By all reports the boys played extremely well and, although they had more scoring opportunities, lost 0-1 in the last minute of the game. Mr Moores was very proud of the effort the boys put in and also of the way the boys handled the disappointment of losing such a close game.
