Albany Hills celebrated Education Week 2012 with a range of exciting activities. These included Under 8s Day, Grandparents' Day and a Fancy Dress Ball.
Under 8s Day fun included activities such as an obstacle course, bubble blowing, making fox tails, balloon painting, creating wrist and headbands, threading and kite making. The tug-of-war was a highlight as were the visitors from the Police and Fire Brigade services. Representatives from soccer and Brisbane Hockey also came along to share their skills with the children. A great time was had by all.
Grandparents' Day is an annual event where our Year 3 students invite their grandparents along to witness the wonderful dances they have learnt at school. The display included the Pride of Erin, barn dances and square dances. The grandparents in attendance were delighted to see the children perform these old time dances with such grace and skill. It was once again a highlight on the Albany Hills calendar.
Where would you see the Oarsome Foursome, Harry Potter, smurfs and Scooby Doo all in the same place? At the Albany Hills Fancy Dress Ball, of course! This year's event was a huge success with hundreds of children, their parents and school staff all dressing up as their favourite storybook or movie character or sporting hero. Costumes were creative, colourful and clever, with lots of thought going into many of them. Prizes were awarded for those judged the best dressed. The children danced the night away with their classmates and parents. Games included the limbo and Monte Carlo.
